About
I'm Daniel Bangs, based in Buckinghamshire, UK.
My work spans a fairly unusual mixture of business, engineering, web design, writing, research and creative projects. I tend to become interested in something, start exploring it, and eventually find myself trying to build something from it.
Sometimes that's a business or a physical product. Sometimes it's a website, a piece of research or something creative. This website brings those different areas together and gives me somewhere to document what I've worked on, what I'm currently developing and whatever comes next.
How I Got Here
I've always been interested in making things and understanding how they work, although the form that takes has changed considerably over time.
An idea might begin as a sketch, a question, a problem I've noticed or simply something I want to know more about. What interests me most is the process that follows: researching it, working out whether it's viable and gradually turning it into something tangible.
That approach eventually led to my first major business project, Container Aerodynamics.
I founded the company in 2024 to develop the Aerodome, an aerodynamic device designed for ISO shipping containers transported by road. Since then, the project has developed through design, modelling, testing and prototype development while I've worked on the commercial side of turning the concept into a viable business.
In 2026, I co-founded Flaming Good Candles with my sister. It's a completely different kind of business, centred around novelty and decorative candles, and has involved developing a consumer brand, product range and e-commerce operation from the ground up.
Building the websites for my own projects also developed into an interest of its own. I began designing websites for other businesses and now take on freelance web design alongside my other work.
Writing, Research & Creative Work
Not everything I work on needs to become a business.
Writing and research give me an opportunity to explore subjects that interest me in considerably greater depth. Those interests are broad, but include history, animals, business and subjects that begin with a question I want to investigate further.
My first substantial independent research project examined the relationship between the American eugenics movement and the development of Nazi eugenic policy between 1900 and 1945. Originally completed as my Extended Project Qualification, it was awarded an A* and is now being prepared for independent publication.
I'm continuing to develop other writing across research, books, practical guides and shorter publications, which I'll add to this website as they're completed.
Art and design have also remained part of what I do, from traditional artwork and illustration to the visual and design work that inevitably finds its way into my other projects.
Work & Experience
Alongside my own businesses and independent projects, I've worked across hospitality, retail and events.
Much of that experience has been customer-facing and practical, working as part of teams in busy environments and seeing how established businesses operate day to day. I've also had opportunities to take on work beyond my core roles, including developing an e-commerce website and online sales presence for a hospitality business.
I currently continue to work in hospitality alongside developing my businesses, freelance work and independent projects.
While these roles are separate from many of the projects showcased on this website, they've been an important part of my wider experience — particularly in customer service, teamwork, communication, responsibility and understanding businesses from the operational side rather than purely from behind a desk.

Education & Qualifications
My education has covered a similarly broad range of subjects, including Product Design, Business and Psychology, alongside independent research through my Extended Project Qualification.
The combination has allowed me to approach projects from several different directions: understanding how something is designed and developed, how the business around it works, and how research can be used to investigate a subject properly.
Outside the classroom, I've also completed the Duke of Edinburgh's Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold level, alongside a range of other practical qualifications and experiences.
A full list of my education and qualifications is available in my CV.
What I'm Doing Now
At the moment, I'm continuing to develop Container Aerodynamics and Flaming Good Candles, building websites through freelance work, working in hospitality and developing a growing collection of writing, research and creative projects.
I don't expect everything I start to turn into something enormous.
Some projects may become businesses. Others might become books, research papers, guides, websites or pieces of artwork. Some might simply be interesting things I worked on for a while before moving onto something else.
That's partly why I built this website.
Rather than trying to make everything I do fit neatly into one profession or subject, it gives me somewhere to bring together the things I've actually worked on and continue building that record over time.
